Troubleshooting & Help
This page answers common questions about using the 33MindBlocks Journal app and explains how your data is stored on your device. All journal data is kept locally in your browser; nothing is transmitted off-device, so it’s important to take your own backups.

The journal stores your entries in your browser’s storage on this device. If you clear browsing data (including site data or cookies), your journal entries will be erased. Unfortunately, once they’re deleted they can’t be recovered.
Prevent data loss
Export your journal regularly using the Export option on the data page. This downloads a file containing all your entries to your computer. Keep this file somewhere safe. If you ever clear your browser or move to a new device, you can import this file to restore your journal.

- On your current computer, go to the Export section (typically at
/data). Click Export to download a file containing your journal entries. - Copy that file to the new computer (via email, USB drive, or cloud storage).
- On the new computer, open the journal app and navigate to the Import option. Select the exported file and confirm that importing will overwrite any existing journal data on that device. Your entries will now appear on the new computer.

Each browser (e.g., Chrome, Firefox, Safari) keeps its own local storage. Switching to a different browser will start with an empty journal.
To continue your journal in another browser, export your data from the original browser, then import it into the new browser. Without exporting and importing, entries won’t carry over automatically.

The export file is a plain-text (JSON) file that contains all of your journal entries in a structured format. It remains on your device; the app does not send it anywhere.
- You can open the file with any text editor to see your entries.
- Keep it somewhere safe as a backup.
- To restore your journal, use the Import option to load the file back into the app.
